Grateful

For the last couple weeks, I have been following this blog.

As hard as it is to read, it makes me so grateful for everything I have been blessed with in my life...McKay, my family, the Gospel, and more than anything, my little Jax.

Last night Jax was up almost all night, and I was TIRED. It was a hard night, but after reading stories like Ruby Jane's, I am so grateful to hold my little boy, whatever time it is that he needs me- even at two and three and four in the morning.

Jax is napping, so I had some time to catch up on Ruby Jane's story. Afterwards I had to go next to Jax on our bed and kiss his little face!

I am so grateful to be a mommy to my little boy.

Please pray for Ruby's family.

Home

Good Morning!!!

We are getting Jax to smile ALL the time now! It is so fun to talk to him and play with him and see him so happy. We have even heard a few laughs!

Jax loves to talk to his dad!

This last weekend we spent mostly relaxing. With McKay working all day and me being busy with Jax all day, Saturdays and Sundays are SO nice. We are really excited about something too...we have a HOUSE! We fell in love with a house a few weeks ago and get to move in on September 6th (hopefully). We are so excited to have a place of our own to make our new home. The house is just a few minutes away from where McKay works and is right outside of Mukilteo. I am so happy that we found a place close to the beach and especially by my family. I will post pictures as soon as I can!

It’s a lot harder to blog when you have a baby…but I am going to do my very best to write a good update before my little Jax boy wakes up.

First of all, being a mommy is the best thing in the world…THE BEST. Every day I can’t wait to wake up in the morning (and at three and at six…) to see this sweet little face next to mine (yes…he sleeps in our bed).

I can’t believe that it has almost been a month. Jax is four weeks tomorrow. I can’t believe how much he has grown already…but I hate it when other people tell me that he’s bigger…so if you think he is, don’t tell me.

McKay started working last week and so it’s just me and Jax at home all day. I am officially a stay-at-home-mommy...what I have always wanted to be! I finally understand that it is possible to love work. I am busy all day…but love every second! McKay gets up a little before seven for work and usually I am just ending our 6am feeding, or have been asleep for about a half hour, but I usually just wake up then…it’s the only time I have to shower! I am amazed at how much longer it takes me to do things that normally would take me one hour. Every day I wake up with the same goals…shower, bathe Jax, feed Jax, change Jax, keep up with laundry, keep up with dishes….that’s it! (And I am still working on adding “make dinner” in there…) It’s still not all done when McKay gets home at five!

I spend A LOT of time staring at and kissing this little face during the day…that might be another reason that I can never get anything done…but how could you not?

Jax is such a good baby. He is very alert. He loves looking all around him and he LOVES to look outside. Sometimes when he is fussy we just stand by a window and look outside and he just gets quiet and stares at the trees. He loves to be held out or lay on our legs. The only time that he likes to lay on our chests is when he is really tired and just wants to sleep. He loves to have his hands out of his blanket and I love that…because then I can always see his chubby little fists!

Four Weeks

Always keeps his hands by his face
Flexes his fingers, even when he’s sleeping
Flexes his feet when he’s just starting to eat
Is loosing his baby fuzz, but still has hairy arms and shoulders!
Looks up at me and follows me if I walk away
Likes to be cheek-to-cheek when I’m holding him
Loves to take a bath- has never cried in the bath
Holds my finger really tight-especially in the car
Loves when Uncle Chad plays the guitar for him
Is starting to do a cry that “vibrates,” it is the saddest cry in the world
Wakes up twice a night- at about three and six
Goes to sleep by about 9:30
Grown out of some of his 0-3 onesies
Loves his daddy- his daddy calms him down better than his mommy
Doesn’t like the sun in his face
Gets frustrated with the hiccups, but doesn’t cry (gets hiccups all the time)
Calms down when mommy sings to him
Sometimes gets mad after he yawns
Sometimes will take a binky- usually just in the car
Makes little sounds when he sleeps

Here are some pictures from the last month:

LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!
(...and hopefully less than that!...sorry mom)

I am so ready for my little baby to come out! Still, no matter how sore my ribs are or how many times I pee in the middle of the night, nothing is as bad as the first five months were...so I'm still happy!

Even though we have two weeks left, it still feels like a LONG time. I am counting down the days until my mom and grandma get here (one week and two days). I can't wait for them to be here! McKay is the sweetest boy and even offered to do masques with me and paint my toenails again, but I need some girls around here! Plus...I just really miss them.

This last (full) week of school is busy...for McKay...not me. McKay has been at school pretty much all day until night time every day and every day this week will be like that for him. I can't wait for him to graduate so that he can finally have a break! He really deserves it... When we finally leave Rexburg (!!!!!!) we are going to Washington and then to the pinkhouse, our lakehouse, and I CAN'T WAIT! It's my favorite place in the world and I haven't gotten to go since last Fourth of July.

I am so excited for some other things coming up in the next two weeks too...

McKay's family is getting here next Thursday!
McKay's graduation!
My dad, brothers and grandpa are coming!!!! I MISS THEM.
I am being induced on the 25th if he doesn't come sooner!
We are getting baby pictures taken!
We are leaving Rexburg forever!
I get to see my friends in Washington who I MISS!

There are a lot of exciting things coming up! More than anything, I just can't wait to be a mom. I can't wait to hold my little baby boy and kiss his face every second...and I can't wait to see McKay be the cutest dad in the world.

Me and McKay have noticed that I have become a little irritable lately. I'm not sure if it's because of our 80-degree apartment, my huge, heavy body, or pregnancy hormones...it's probably a little of each. But here are some things that I have noticed...

Things that annoy me more than anything lately:

#1: Katy Perry on every radio station for every song. SO sick of her music

#2: Crickets outside at night

#3: Things on the floor that I have to pick up (it's hard)

#4: People who eat gross food in class

#5: McKay's change that is in piles all over our bedroom

Things that I love and make me happy even when I'm in a bad mood:

#1: McKay

#2: Talking to my family on the phone/Skype

#3: When we get baby stuff in the mail/when McKay lets me buy baby clothes

#4: Anthropologie website...even though I never buy anything...I like to pretend...

#5: Fruit. It's all I want to eat! This is what I bought today at the grocery store...

Anyways...I am SO excited for one week and six days from today! I really do feel like the luckiest girl in the world with the best hubby who is so patient, loving, sweet, helpful and cute and our sweet little boy who is almost here! I don't know how life could get any better! :)

FOURTH OF JULY!

We went with the Paces to Rigby Lake. It was so nice to be out of our 80-degree apartment. We always have fun with Juston and Brighton!

Mommies with our two little boys!

Laying out...

NEXT...we were off to the Clarks!

Here is a picture of Jason making us really yummy burgers.

We ate REALLY REALLY good food at Jason and Jan's and then walked around to try to find a good view of the fireworks. We laid out our blankets for about an hour and played a fun card game and then went to set up our stuff on the sidewalk right before the fireworks were about to start. The boys were sweet and let the girls have the chairs!...but we all ended up moving during the show to sit close to our hubbies! After fireworks, we went back to Jason and Jan's and they made us really good milkshakes! It was such a fun night...and Jason and Jan are great hosts! Thanks guys! :)

Sweet Surprise & Jackson Hole

Today, McKay and I decided to drive to Jackson Hole, Wyoming as our last little trip with just us! We had driven about an hour and a half, and McKay all of the sudden said that he "forgot something" and turned the car around. I laughed and asked him if he was kidding and told him that there was no way we were going all the way back home. He pulled up a little road and then I knew where we were...at the cabin where we got engaged! Of course, I cried, haha! It was the sweetest surprise in the world! I was so happy and couldn't believe how beautiful it was there. It was the neatest feeling to be back there, in the summer, thinking about our engagement and knowing that we are having a little baby in about three weeks. I feel so lucky every day that the most amazing guy in the whole entire world picked me. I am seriously the happiest girl in the world! Here is the cabin and some pictures...

Then & Now...

Jackson Hole... was so much fun! I was kind of proud of myself for walking around for about four hours, over eight months pregnant! McKay had to walk REALLY slow haha. We just walked around the shops all day and looked at all the fun things. Also, I got the best Oreo ice cream IN THE WORLD. I am craving it right now. On our way home, we stopped in Victor at a fun pizza place and got the best pizza. It was such a fun day. Now...we are EXHAUSTED and SO ready for our little baby boy to get here! Three more weeks!
