Jax and I went to the beach last week to practice with the camera a little bit. I had been wanting to play with it for a while, but it has just been so dang sunny! And by the end of the day when the sun's going down it's wayyyyy to late for me. Sweats are on, bra is off, feet are up and I am in for the night. Last week though, we had an overcast day so grabbed my camera, candy for bribery, and we were off to the beach! Jax is getting to the age now where he understands when I want to take his picture. Usually he is perfect. He will look at the camera and smile and stay where we tell him (at least for a little while). It's been fun having him able to understand us more and listen (or deliberately not) a little better. The beach we went to has a huge concrete sidewalk hill you have to walk up- so seriously, it was a struggle for me pushing Jax up that thing and then finally getting down to the beach. I got out my camera, gave him some candy, and he literally would NOT look at me. He would not even smile. He expressionlessly stared down at the ground. Once there was a little girl who got his attention, so I moved right next to her to be in his view (her dad probably thought I was a weirdo), but Jax seriously would not even look. So this photoshoot pretty much represents me, pregnant body and all- crouching and screaming Jax! LOOK! There's a spider on my camera! Is there a bug on my camera???!!!! Do you see the train??!?!?!?!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!! There's a bug on mommy!!!!!!!! etc. etc. And I probably only got five semi-sharp photos of the Jaxers. Oh and also I'm pretty sure that every person at the beach that day saw my underwear- because with all the crouching and crab-walking my sweats were about half-way off my bum. I didn't notice until we were semi-done with the pictures. Lovely!

When we were in the car after the beach, I said Jax, you wouldn't smile for mommy, huh?! And he looked at me smiling and said, "Yeah."
