All the rest of 2012!

There are exactly 45 minutes left of 2012!
And I haven't written for like 10 days- so really fast, here's December 22 on...

This is my top story from 2012. Two nights ago, the best moment (besides Jax's birth) happened. Jax, McKay and I were all lying in bed together. We were teaching Jax to say his name and say that he is "one," and hold up one finger. All of the sudden, he started held my face, looked right into my eyes and said "mamamamamama." Then he did the same thing to McKay and said "dadadadada." It was the in the top two best moments of my entire life.

Christmas was so fun this year watching Jax open presents. He got lots and lots and lots of books. Books are my favorite Jax present ever. So thanks family for the books! Now I have a bonus room full of toys that I don't know what to do with. Of course, like 1/10th of the room is filled with the pony my mom & step-dad got him. It's huge and  it sings!

The Saturday after Christmas, everything was finally over- Christmas, the wedding, etc. Our house was a disaster. McKay decided to clean the garage. I decided to clean the house. Everything was going perfectly. I was cleaning the kitchen counters and all of the sudden, the bowls I was trying to move were stuck to the counter and so my hand slid off them and slammed into a vase- the edge of the flower on the vase slicing my finger wide open. I beckoned McKay in from the garage. He saw it, ran upstairs to grab our First Aid kit, and demanded that I get stitches. Umm, no way, I thought. There is no way I am paying a $15 co-pay when I can super glue this thing shut. I am really cheap with self-injuries. He of course called my mom and they ganged up on me and then he called the dr and the dr said come in and I said no. McKay dramatically told me that he just didn't want my finger to have to get cut off. lol. So THEN I sat by our fire and held my finger closed, waiting for it to stop bleeding. And in an hour it did not stop, so I just wrapped it tighter and then finally it turned blue and then it stopped.  Today I went to Trader Joes (and by the way, WHAT do people buy there? So out of my league...) and I reached in the back to get my wallet, and sliced my wound open again on a velcro. It started bleeding all over the place, but then I had a daydream in my mind about not even calling McKay and going to Target and supergluing it shut. Then I would show McKay later and act like it was no big deal. But then I had to wrap Jax's sock around it and walk through Trader Joe's with a sock on my finger and a sock-less baby in the middle of the winter, so I got too ashamed and ditched my cart and went home to meet McKay. All I had in that cart was chocolate-covered peanut butter-filled pretzels anyways.

This month, something miraculous happened. I didn't buy myself ONE thing the entire month (minus the tiny amount of Christmas decorations that I am not counting). Right before Christmas, my brother made me spend like 17 hours at the mall with him shopping for his gf. At fist, I was shopping with him- but the next day he made me go alone. As a reward for the shopping, I bought myself one polka-dot beanie. There were three when I bought it, and I tried to talk my brother in to getting one for his gf, but he wouldn't. By the next day, the were gone. At the end of all the shopping, our my labors yielded no reward, and there were no prospects for perfect girlfriend presents. Finally, he had to pick something. And he picked my beanie. So I had to give it to her. Yesterday I asked her if she liked the beanie she said it fits like perfectly. I KNOW it does.

My cousin got married on Friday. The wedding was beautiful. The reception had dancing. I was so excited for the dancing, but then when the music came on, I started to kind of feel awkward because I kind of thought I'm a mom...what is a non-awkward way to mom-dance? So I kind of just danced with Jax and watched him dance. But THEN, McKay started (kind of freak-) dancing with my great-grandma Gogo. And I had one of those moments where I got the crush again. Like where you see your husband through the eyes of a 16-year-old girl and you get that giddy, crushing, he's-too-cool-for-me feeling. And I had it all night! Love it when that happens! I still kinda have it.

I'm sure I'll think of more stories and add to this later.

But for now, happy 2013 from me and this out of control party animal!

  1. I superglue my finger too, but that's partially because I'm too lazy to go to the hospital and partially because I don't want to go see a non English speaking doctor with my finger in the balance. So superglue it is

  18. Well, I laughed during this entire post. haha. I am super cheap with self-injuries. I am actually typing this with the middle finger on my left hang taped up because I sliced it on an open can rim while making soup two nights ago. My mother-in-law said I should go to the doctor because A) it wouldn't stop bleeding and B) I haven't had a tetnis shot in a year or two and it might get infected. Of course I refused. I have a TWENTY-DOLLAR copay. Um, no. Also, I totally know what you mean about the crush!
