1, 2, 3 on Wednesday (again)

1. We took our own family Christmas pics this year. ha. We brought a tripod and a Snickers (for bribery) and I thought it would go perfectly smooth. Optimismmm!

Merry X-mas from the Walkers.
notice McKay's face.

2. I have a new goal- to not be on my computer or watch TV (very much) in front of Jax. It's amazing how fast babies pick up on things. The other day, we were sitting on the couch and Jax picked up the remote, pointed it towards the TV and started whining. And I just thought-no. please no. He can't be one of those kids. And whenever I get that worried feeling, I turn off anything electronic, sit next to him and try to play or read, or do something- but a full hour of playing on the floor with a baby is hard. And  pre-mom I would have probably read this and judged. But it is. It's hard. Thirty minutes is hard. So, today I am planning on asking Google "activities for boys who are 18 months," and I'll see what she comes up with (or he?)

3. This weekend I had to stay home alone because McKay was on a campout with the scouts again. Can I just say it should be against the law for wives to have to stay home alone? It's so scary. So to ease my discomfort I made myself an entire pan of brownies and I watched Jersey Shore for the first time. Omgsh. I don't get it. So then I watched Friends. But I ate almost the entire pan of brownies! So sad. And happy. There's something about being completely alone in a room with brownies and your TV. I know, it's sad that I just said that.

4. I was going to do the 1, 2, 3 yesterday- actually, I was thinking about it and I really wanted to. But I'm not even kidding...my house was more disgusting than it has ever been. And we had no food. So I did my wife/mother duties and I grocery shopped and cleaned. Allllll dayyyy longgg.

Anddddd Jax is awake...

  3. Oh, gosh... those pics are priceless. You had to have at least one winner?!! It reminds me of trying to take pictures with my puppies last year. The outtakes were hilarious!! In the final pic, my husband had the one pup in a head lock and the other pup had a big ole bone in his mouth... lol! I've yet to brave the Christmas photo this year... I think we're aiming for a New Year's card. ;)

we've been taking self-portraits for a few years now…and man, it's tough sometimes. but i always love how at least a few of them turn out…and then i always treasure the outtakes too. plus, it's fun to look at the photos and feel some sort of authorship to them!

  6. The pictures are to cute!!! As a mom I know how hard it is! It gets easier tho when they get a little older, now my little girl can help a lot with what I do and the toys get a little more fun!

  7. the pictures look great, in spite of the tripod and candy obstacles!! I don't blame you, eating a whole pan of brownies and watching tv has got to be one of the most relaxing and theraputic things ever.

  11. Those photos are priceless! They turned out great! :)
As for the playing and interacting instead of plopping the little one in front of a TV...I sooo get that! James is into EVERYTHING these days! It is straight up exhausting. Let me know if you find some good 18 month boy activities...I'd love to hear 'em!

  12. Good effort with Christmas photos! That would not be an easy thing to do, and they turned out cute!
I need to get out of the same habits-sometimes it's just so easy to have them watch a cartoon so you can have a quiet breakfast and coffee. I try to limit it to just that one time a day!

  16. Oh man I totally hear you!! I try so hard to just say TV is off except a little bit here and there! I try to do my electronic stuff while they are sleeping. I am lucky we get three hour naps! It gets better though don't worry!! Now that I have two and a nice little backyard I am starting to see the light. Don't get down too hard on yourself though!! Mommas need their time too!! And I have a hubby in scouts as well! We have moved five times since being married and he gets called to scouts every. Single. Time. I am officially a part time widow! But I am glad he gets to be part of such a great organization. So maybe next time we can just eat a pan of brownies together? At least we could split the calories!! And I love your pics!! You guys are a beautiful family!!!
