Thank you guys so much for the congratulations! Seriously. When I hadn't posted for a month, I was bummed because I thought I had for sure lost all my blog friends! I am finally feeling like I am on the uphill...FINALLY. So blogging will commence regularly soon. This is the announcement that we used for Facebook. I couldn't believe how much Jax had grown up since the last time I told him to "hold the sign" in a picture. He knew exactly what to do! I can't believe in October, he will have a sibling. A tiny part of me feels a little guilty. We will talk to him about the "baby" and he points to himself, jamming his finger into his cheek and replies, "bayyybeee." Yes, Jax, YOU will always be our baby! This morning he woke up and hour earlier than normal (and no, I am not saying what time it was!). I picked him up out of his crib and set him in our bed, letting him dig into my open Chapstick or do whatever occupied him for five more minutes. Then I started thinking, Ali, you need to be able to handle this. You are going to have a newborn and a two year old. Get it together.
Last night McKay and I, for the very first time, started planning our own family trip. Just us three. In our (almost three) years of marriage, we have never gone on a trip- just us three. And guess where we are going? The sunny, relaxing, lovely..................UTAH. But seriously, it would truly be our #1 place to go right now. The food. The shopping. The FRIENDS. (we could say that last one a million times). Most of our friends are in Utah and we miss them. Have I said before that we have no friends here? Washington has made us losers. We seriously HAVE NO FRIENDS. We are using McKay's accumulated vacation days and we still have to figure out a car to drive. Last night we were sitting down together looking at calendars and rental car places. Aren't we so grown up? ha!
Any tips?
Are any of you in Utah?!
*a right-after-writing update:
Jax did this while I was typing. In case you can't tell, that is bananas and peanut butter mushed into the carpet.
Lovely.
Ali, I'm so glad you are blogging again (/feeling well enough to), I've missed you! Your blog is one of my faaaves! Those pictures look profesh, bee tea dubs.
ReplyDeleteLOVEEE the pictures - cute cute cute Facebook announcement!
ReplyDeleteI'M IN UTAHH!
ReplyDeletemaybe we'll actually hang out here since we never hung out when we were in washington hahaha. but seriously, i have no friends too. and we actually live in utah!! how lame is that?
actually, scratch that. i've made lots of blogging friends in real life recently. its awesome :)
Deletealso, i think that the ward you go to has a lot of older people so it makes it hard to make friends lol
These pictures are SOOOO adorable! :)
ReplyDeletedid Mckay tell you I totally called it? Sooo super excited for you! I WILL tell you (in regards to your "feeling guilty")that after I had my 2nd baby I NEVER FELT WORSE. I cried every day all the time about it not being just the 2 of us anymore and my poor daughter getting neglected. But what you will someday realize (when you see them kiss, hug, play with their new little bro/sis) is that you are giving them the best gift ever, a sibling. Your family will never be the same, but its for the better! CONGRATS GUYS :)
ReplyDeleteIf you have time any of the national parks are worth it! My personal favorite is Zions. Good luck with driving! It's never easy with kids but if you can leave early in the morning like 2 or 3 AM it could make things easier since Jax would hopefully sleep. New toys are good and lots of snacks! Liam loves his magnadoodle in the car. If you are going to be in the Ogden area the treehouse museum is worth a stop. It's awesome for the kids.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats! Two is crazy and an adjustment. Everyday gets easier. I personally thought being pregnant and taking care Liam was harder. I highly recommend a good baby carrier. I think it made a HUGE difference to carry my newborn and then be hands free for Liam. And I didn't have to worry about my newborn getting her eyes poked out by her brother! I still carry my 9 mo when we go out. Toddlers just require two hands at all times haha! You can do it and Jax will adore the new baby because you will. Kids are resilient so cut yourself some slack. They always love you. :)
DeleteBahaha his face is priceless! He is such a cutie. Ummm I am in Utah!!! If you are in Salt Lake and have a few extra minutes we should all meet up for lunch of something :)
ReplyDeleteAli!!
ReplyDeleteHow darling cute is this post! Congrats on your little addition.

SO happy you're back and CONGRATS!!! So exciting!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have a readership! Can I be honest without sounding creepy or like a super fangirl? The night before I read your blog post I'm pretty sure I had a dream where I was reading your blog (because I've been wondering like, hope everything is ok with them...I'm sure life is just busy) then that day I actually read it and I was like WOAH! Jax does look SO much older, and adorable in those announcement pictures I must add. So glad you're getting to go on a trip! Visiting a slew of old friends is the best best. Plus it'll be great for you three before the baby!

Congrats on baby number 2 -- and I recommend a stop at City Creek Mall in downtown Salt Lake if you want to go shopping. It's pricey (and I never end up buying much), but it's worth it just to walk around and see how pretty and new it is. :)

I'm so happy for you! Literally the DAY before you posted that you were pregnant, I was thinking about you and thought, "Hm, maybe she's pregnant." Haha! I love the way you announced it on Facebook! Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! Congrats! This is such exciting news! And, an October baby??!! Maybe it will share my birthday?
ReplyDeleteHave fun planning your little family trip. It's always good to get away...
P.S. I think clean carpets are overrated, and I'd take peanut butter and bananas over dog poo (like my pups do) any day. ;)
Oh my goodness! CONGRATS!!! Oh how awesome!! Somehow I totally lost your blog in my ridicolously large feed and I am so happy I found your blog again!! Congratulations and many many best wishes!!! =)
