It’s a lot harder to blog when you have a baby…but I am going to do my very best to write a good update before my little Jax boy wakes up.

First of all, being a mommy is the best thing in the world…THE BEST. Every day I can’t wait to wake up in the morning (and at three and at six…) to see this sweet little face next to mine (yes…he sleeps in our bed).

I can’t believe that it has almost been a month. Jax is four weeks tomorrow. I can’t believe how much he has grown already…but I hate it when other people tell me that he’s bigger…so if you think he is, don’t tell me.

McKay started working last week and so it’s just me and Jax at home all day. I am officially a stay-at-home-mommy...what I have always wanted to be! I finally understand that it is possible to love work. I am busy all day…but love every second! McKay gets up a little before seven for work and usually I am just ending our 6am feeding, or have been asleep for about a half hour, but I usually just wake up then…it’s the only time I have to shower! I am amazed at how much longer it takes me to do things that normally would take me one hour. Every day I wake up with the same goals…shower, bathe Jax, feed Jax, change Jax, keep up with laundry, keep up with dishes….that’s it! (And I am still working on adding “make dinner” in there…) It’s still not all done when McKay gets home at five!

I spend A LOT of time staring at and kissing this little face during the day…that might be another reason that I can never get anything done…but how could you not?

Jax is such a good baby. He is very alert. He loves looking all around him and he LOVES to look outside. Sometimes when he is fussy we just stand by a window and look outside and he just gets quiet and stares at the trees. He loves to be held out or lay on our legs. The only time that he likes to lay on our chests is when he is really tired and just wants to sleep. He loves to have his hands out of his blanket and I love that…because then I can always see his chubby little fists!

Four Weeks

Always keeps his hands by his face
Flexes his fingers, even when he’s sleeping
Flexes his feet when he’s just starting to eat
Is loosing his baby fuzz, but still has hairy arms and shoulders!
Looks up at me and follows me if I walk away
Likes to be cheek-to-cheek when I’m holding him
Loves to take a bath- has never cried in the bath
Holds my finger really tight-especially in the car
Loves when Uncle Chad plays the guitar for him
Is starting to do a cry that “vibrates,” it is the saddest cry in the world
Wakes up twice a night- at about three and six
Goes to sleep by about 9:30
Grown out of some of his 0-3 onesies
Loves his daddy- his daddy calms him down better than his mommy
Doesn’t like the sun in his face
Gets frustrated with the hiccups, but doesn’t cry (gets hiccups all the time)
Calms down when mommy sings to him
Sometimes gets mad after he yawns
Sometimes will take a binky- usually just in the car
Makes little sounds when he sleeps

Here are some pictures from the last month:

  1. Ali!!!! I cried reading this. I think it's because when we were little girls being stay at home mommies was only a thought in our minds-- and now you are one and a great one at that! I'm so happy and so proud of you! I can't wait to meet Jax (hopefully soon) ;)

I love the pictures of you guys sleeping with him. And the pictures of Chad playing music for him. Heck, I love them all. and you.

  4. You are an amazing writer (I guess you'd say it's easy with such great subjects to talk write about). You are the best daughter-in-law a dad could ever ask for. Thanks for loving our boys soooo much! You are a wonderful wife and mommy. Can't wait to see you all soon.
